Aizawl, the scenic capital of Mizoram, is a religious and cultural center of the Mizos. Perched at an altitude of 4000 ft. above sea level, it is
accessible from Shillong, Guwahati and Silchar, by bus, by road and by car. The town is blessed with exotic natural beauty and is famous for its handicrafts. It is an ideal hill station for tourists looking for solitude, clean air and new destination .

Aizawl, the beautiful capital of Mizoram, with its lovely surroundings have been developed ideally to meet the inflow of domestic and foreign tourists. Aizawl in Mizoram is the largest city in the state, but still very remote. Aizawl is a religious and cultural hub of the Mizos.
Aizawl, lying at the southern side border of Mizoram, is an amazing travel destination that offers a wide spectrum of of tourist attractions to tourists and habitants from all across the globe alike. Apart from its breathtaking charm, Aizawl is the stockroom of all important Government Offices, State Assembly House and Civil Secretariat. How to Access There


Airport : Nearest airport is Shillong. Aizawl is connected to Kolkata and Imphal by air. Indian Airlines connects Aizawl to rest of India via Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata.

Railhead : Nearest railhead is Silchar which is in Assam ( 184 km away). From Guwahati, travel to Silchar by Barak Valley Express, Cachar Express or the Tripura Passenger.

Road Transport : NH - 54 connects Aizawl with the rest of the country through Silchar. Buses and taxis are available from Silchar to Aizawl. Night services are also available. Aizawl can also be approached by road from Shillong and Guwahati.

Bara Bazar

If you love shopping, this is the place for you. This is the main shopping hub with stalls selling garments and other useful commodities. The main bazaar is the place, where the people are best seen in their traditional costumes selling products from farms and homesteads along with river crabs with little wicker baskets.

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre

This is at a distance of almost 7 km by car. The 'Khumbeu' ceremonial bamboo hat is made here using waterproof 'hnahthial' leaves. A must visit place in Aizawl.


Mizoram State Museum

This museum is settled at Mc Donald Hill at the center of the town. Though small, it has an interesting array of historical relics, ancient costumes and traditional implements.

Durtlang Hills

These beautiful, craggy hills offer a good view of Aizawl. This picture perfect place will surely satisfy you.

Mini Zoo

This Mini Zoo at Aizawl is home to various species of animals and birds found only in the hills of Mizoram.

Berawtlang Tourist Complex

This recreational center is situated 7 km away from Aizawl City center. There are facilities of Restaurant as well as Tourist Cottages nearby.

Bung

A spectacular picnic spot situated at a distance of 15 km from Aizawl on a hill. You can reach this by car, local bus and local taxis. This is a nice place to relax.

Paikhai

A quiet and enchanting picnic spot in Aizawl, is just 16 km from the city centre. You can reach there by car, local bus and local taxis.

Tamdil

A natural lake bounded by cool unspoilt forests. Tamdil is the largest lake in Mizoram cultivated as a fish farm and with provision for boating.
